Bartaz

Bartaz is a small village in the Zəngilan District of southern Azerbaijan, located in the Zangezur Mountains near the Armenian border. It is a traditional rural settlement in a remote mountain valley, typical of the small communities that dot this rugged border region. The area was under Armenian control from 1993 until 2020 and is now being resettled.

The climate is mild continental with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons.

Bartaz is a remote, quiet village with minimal infrastructure. It offers a glimpse of the Zangezur mountain landscape.

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Nakhchivan International Airport (NAJ), about 115 km north-west. Official authorisation is required for this border zone.

By Car / Road

Bartaz is reached via mountain roads from Zangilan or Mincivan. A 4WD vehicle is essential.

The village is walkable.
