Khojavend is a small town in the Xocavənd District of Azerbaijan, located in the mountainous landscape of the Karabakh region. It lies south-west of Aghdam in a valley of the Lesser Caucasus. The town was affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and came under Azerbaijani control in 2023.

The climate is mild with warm summers and cold winters. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons, with moderate temperatures and green landscapes.

Khojavend is a quiet town still recovering from the conflict. It has limited infrastructure but offers a base for exploring the surrounding Karabakh countryside.

How do you get there?

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Ganja International Airport (GNJ), about 160 km north-west (2.5 hours by car). Travel requires official authorisation.

By Car / Road

Khojavend is reached via the road from Aghdam (about 35 km) or from Khankendi (about 40 km). Roads are paved but may be in varying condition. Official permission is required for travel in this region.

The town is walkable. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for exploring the district's villages and mountain roads.
