Galeybugurd

Galeybugurd is a village in Shamakhi Rayon, central Azerbaijan, located in the Caucasus foothills. The village is small and agricultural, with farming and livestock as the main economic activities. It is a quiet, rural settlement far from the tourist trail. The best time to visit is spring or autumn.

By Plane

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, about 135 km east, is the nearest major airport. Travel to Shamakhi (1.5–2 hours), then onward to Galeybugurd by taxi (25 minutes).

By Car / Road

From Shamakhi, head north on a local road for about 18 km. A taxi from Shamakhi costs 15–20 AZN.

Galeybugurd is tiny and walkable.

• Shamakhi (18 km south, 25 min) — The Juma Mosque, Yeddi Gumbaz, and Gulistan Fortress.
• Demirchi (6 km west, 10 min) — A neighbouring village in the foothills.
• Pirgulu (15 km northwest, 25 min) — The Pirgulu Astrophysical Observatory.
• Baku (135 km east, 2 hours) — The capital with the Old City and Caspian coast.
