Chukhuryurd

Chukhuryurd is a village in Shamakhi Rayon, central Azerbaijan, located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus. The village is small and agricultural, with livestock herding and forestry as the main livelihoods. It offers a quiet mountain setting with forested slopes and clean air. The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn.

By Plane

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, about 135 km east, is the nearest major airport. Travel to Shamakhi (1.5–2 hours), then onward to Chukhuryurd by taxi (30 minutes on a mountain road).

By Car / Road

From Shamakhi town centre, head north on a local road for about 20 km. The road is unpaved in sections. A taxi from Shamakhi costs 15–25 AZN.

Chukhuryurd is very small and walkable.

A small shop sells basic provisions. For a market, go to Shamakhi.

• Pirgulu (10 km west, 20 min) — The astrophysical observatory in the mountain forest.
