Why visit Goytapa?

Goytapa is a town in the Cəlilabad District of southeastern Azerbaijan, located approximately 15 km west of the district capital Jalilabad. Its name means "blue hill" in Azerbaijani, referring to a nearby elevation. The town is an agricultural centre in the transitional zone between the Mugan Plain and the Talysh foothills, known for its fruit orchards and vineyards.

The climate is subtropical: hot summers (28–35 °C) and mild winters (3–10 °C), with greater humidity and rainfall than central Azerbaijan. The region is green for much of the year.

How do you get there?

By Plane

The nearest major airport is in Bakı (GYD), about 220 km northeast. From Bakı, take a bus to Jalilabad, then local transport to Goytapa.

By Train

The nearest railway station is in Masallı, about 55 km southeast. From Masallı, a taxi to Goytapa via Jalilabad costs 15–25 AZN.

By Car / Road

From Jalilabad, drive west on the local road toward the Yardımlı direction — approximately 15 km and 20 minutes. A taxi from Jalilabad costs 8–12 AZN.

Goytapa is small and walkable. The surrounding agricultural areas are best accessed by taxi or private vehicle.

  • Fruit Orchards — Goytapa is surrounded by apple, pear, and quince orchards. The blossom season in April is particularly beautiful.

  • Local Vineyards — Small family-run vineyards produce table grapes. The autumn harvest season (September–October) is the most vibrant time to visit.

  • Goytapa Hills — A low hill east of the town offers views across the Cəlilabad district and toward the Caspian on clear days.
