Freeport is located about 20 miles north of Portland and 15 miles south of Brunswick. By Plane
The nearest large airport is Portland International Jetport (PWM), about 20 miles south. Visitors also often fly to Boston, Massachusetts, or Manchester, New Hampshire.
By Train
Freeport station, 23 Depot Road, is served by Amtrak Downeaster, providing service to Boston's North Station and points in between.
By Car / Road
From the south: Take I-95 to the Maine Turnpike, Exit 52. Follow signs to I-295 North. Take Exit 17, 20, or 22 for Freeport. From the north: Take I-95 South to Exit 103 to I-295 South. Take I-295 Exit 22, 20, or 17. All of these exits lead directly to US Route 1, which is the Main Street.
Freeport is a compact, walkable town with most attractions and shops within walking distance of downtown. The L.L. Bean flagship store and surrounding outlet shops are concentrated along US Route 1 and the adjacent streets. Parking is available at various lots throughout the shopping district. The town is also bikeable, with paths and quiet roads suitable for cycling.
