Why visit Kennebunkport?

Kennebunkport is a coastal town in southern Maine's Southern Coast region, known for its beautiful beaches, charming village center, and its association with the Bush family. The Bush compound on nearby Walker's Point has been the summer retreat of two United States presidents, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and remains a prominent landmark. The town draws visitors with its shopping, atmosphere, and access to Maine's stunning beaches.

The predominant language is English, but due to the large number of visitors from Quebec, some locals have facility with French. An information kiosk in Dock Square provides free information, much of it based on suggestions from the local chamber of commerce. Information about upcoming events is often available at the Kennebunk Free Library and the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library.

Kennebunkport experiences four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and pleasant, ideal for beach activities, shopping, and exploring the village. Fall foliage peaks in late September to early October, with beautiful views along the coast. Winters bring cold temperatures and occasional snow, though the town remains active with holiday events and shops. Spring sees the return of tourists and the opening of seasonal attractions.
