Why visit Moyo?

Moyo is a town in the West Nile sub-region of north-western Uganda, located on the eastern bank of the Nile River near the border with South Sudan. It serves as the administrative headquarters of Moyo District and is a key crossing point between Uganda and South Sudan.

The Madi people are the dominant ethnic group, and Ma'di is the local language. The town has a frontier character due to its proximity to the South Sudanese border.

How do you get there?

By Plane

The nearest airport is Gulu Airport (ULU IATA), about 150 km south.

By Train

There is no passenger train service to Moyo.

By Car / Road

Matatus from Gulu and Adjumani serve Moyo. Roads are a mix of paved and marram. From Adjumani, the drive is about 1 hour.

Boda-bodas are the main transport. The town centre is walkable.
