Nakapiripirit is a town in the Karamoja region of north-eastern Uganda, serving as the administrative headquarters of Nakapiripirit District. The area is semi-arid and inhabited by the Karamojong and Pokot peoples, who are traditionally pastoralists. The landscape features rugged hills, dry plains, and scattered villages, with Mount Kadam and Mount Moroto visible on the horizon.

The town is one of the more remote settlements in Uganda and sees very few visitors, offering an authentic glimpse into Karamoja's traditional way of life.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Moroto Airstrip, about 60 km north.

By Train

There is no passenger train service to Nakapiripirit.

By Car / Road

Matatus from Moroto and Mbale serve Nakapiripirit. Roads are marram and challenging in the rainy season.

The town is small and walkable. 4x4 vehicles are needed for trips to surrounding villages.
