Nebbi

Nebbi is a town in the West Nile sub-region of north-western Uganda, located approximately 30 km from the shores of Lake Albert and the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as the administrative and commercial centre of Nebbi District. The area is agricultural, with cassava, millet, and coffee as the main crops.

The Alur people are the dominant ethnic group, and Alur and Lugbara are the primary languages. Nebbi has a relaxed, rural character.

The nearest airport is Arua Airport (RUA IATA), about 80 km north.

By Train

There is no passenger train service to Nebbi.

By Car / Road

Matatus from Arua and Pakwach serve Nebbi. The road is paved from Pakwach. From Kampala, the journey is 5–6 hours via Gulu and Pakwach.

Boda-bodas are the main local transport. The town centre is walkable.
