Kaliro is a town in the Busoga region of eastern Uganda, serving as the administrative headquarters of Kaliro District. Created in 2010 from parts of Kamuli District, Kaliro is a small but growing agricultural centre. The area is known for sugarcane, maize, and cotton farming.

The population is primarily Basoga, with Lusoga as the main language. The town has a quiet, rural character.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Entebbe International Airport (EBB IATA), about 180 km west.

By Train

There is no passenger train service to Kaliro.

By Car / Road

Matatus from Kamuli and Iganga serve Kaliro (30–45 minutes). Roads are a mix of paved and marram.

The town centre is walkable. Boda-bodas are available.
