Karakocan

Karakocan is a district town in northern Elazığ Province, Eastern Anatolia, set amid rolling green hills and agricultural land. With a modest population, it serves as the administrative centre for the surrounding rural area. The town is quiet and retains a traditional character, with stone and concrete buildings lining its main streets. It has a small castle ruin on a hilltop that speaks to its long history as a local settlement.

Karakocan experiences continental climate — hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit for pleasant weather.

Karakocan is reached by local roads from Kovancilar (25 km north) and from Elazig. Dolmuşes run from Elazig and Kovancilar.
