Why visit Sivrice?

Sivrice is a district town on the southern shore of Lake Hazar in Elazığ Province, about 31 km southeast of Elazig city. Lake Hazar is a deep rift-valley lake (max depth 213 m) stretching 22 km east, and is the source of the Tigris River. An ancient city lies submerged beneath its waters.

The summer months are the busiest, when locals flock to the lakeshore for swimming and picnicking. Winter attracts skiers to Hazarbaba. Spring and autumn are quieter but offer pleasant conditions.
