Gerger

Gerger is a remote district in the east of Adıyaman Province, situated along the upper reaches of the Atatürk Reservoir on the Euphrates River. The area is known for Gerger Castle (Gerger Kalesi), a striking hilltop fortress from the Commagene Kingdom that predates the more famous Nemrut Dağı sanctuary. The town is small and isolated, offering a glimpse into rural life in southeastern Turkey.

Gerger has a continental climate with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Spring is the best time to visit.
