Why visit Mailiao?
Mailiao (麥寮) is a coastal township in western Yunlin County, Taiwan, dominated by the Formosa Plastics Group's Sixth Naphtha Cracker Complex, one of Taiwan's largest petrochemical facilities. The site, chosen in 1991, involved land reclamation across Mailiao and neighboring Haifeng, and today integrates an oil refinery, naphtha crackers, and a large thermal power plant. The township also has a fishing harbour.
The climate is tropical.
