Shuilin

Yunlin, Taiwan

Why visit Shuilin?

Shuilin (水林) is a rural township in southwestern Yunlin County, Taiwan, known for its traditional fishing and aquaculture ponds — Yunlin County as a whole is a major aquaculture producer, particularly for tilapia. The area was originally known as Shuicanlin; Fujianese immigrants from Zhangzhou and Quanzhou settled it during the Qing dynasty's Kangxi era in the late 17th century, and it was placed under Yunlin County's jurisdiction when the county was established in the late 19th century.
