Shimen

Shimen (石門) is a coastal district in northern New Taipei City, Taiwan, known for its dramatic coastline, the iconic Shimen Arch, and excellent seafood. The area is less developed than neighbouring Jinshan.

The climate is humid subtropical. October to March are the best months.

By Plane

Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is about 35 km south. A taxi takes about 50 minutes and costs around NT$1,000–1,300.

By Car / Road

Shimen is accessible via Provincial Highway 2. From Taipei, drive north for about 50 minutes.

A car is needed for this spread-out coastal area.

Tap water is not safe to drink; bottled water is widely available. Local tea shops serve bubble tea and Taiwanese tea. Convenience stores sell beverages.
