Western Area Peninsula National Park is a protected area covering much of the mountainous interior of the Freetown Peninsula in the Western Area of Sierra Leone. The park protects the peninsula's remaining tropical forest, which is the source of Freetown's water supply and home to diverse wildlife including chimpanzees, Diana monkeys, and numerous bird species.
The park is crisscrossed by hiking trails leading to waterfalls, viewpoints, and rivers. It is a popular destination for day hikes from Freetown and offers some of the best forest and mountain scenery in the country.

The nearest airport is Lungi International Airport (IATA: FNA), approximately 40 km north across the estuary.
By Car / Road
The park is accessible from Freetown via the mountain road through Leicester village. Entrances are located at several points around the peninsula. A 4WD vehicle is recommended in the rainy season.
The park has a network of hiking trails. Walking with a guide is recommended. Vehicles are needed to reach trailheads.
