Why visit Cat Hill?

Cat Hill is the southernmost settlement on Ascension Island, located near the US base on the southern coast. It is a residential area for US military and contractor personnel working at the island's tracking and communications facilities. The settlement comprises housing, support buildings, and access to the rugged southern coastline. It is not open to independent travellers and has no tourist infrastructure.

The climate is subtropical and dry, with strong sunshine and little rainfall.

How do you get there?

By Plane

RAF Ascension Island (ASI) is approximately 10 km north. Access to Cat Hill is restricted to sponsored personnel with authorised transport.

By Car / Road

Cat Hill is accessible by paved road from the airfield and Georgetown. No public transport.

The settlement is small and walkable. A vehicle is needed to reach other parts of the island.
