Puerto Pinasco

Puerto Pinasco is a remote port town in northern Presidente Hayes department, located on the Paraguay River near the border with Alto Paraguay department. It is one of the northernmost populated places in the Chaco and serves as a river port for cattle ranches and timber extraction. The town has a isolated frontier character, with basic services and a small population. The climate is tropical; the dry season (May–September) is essential for access.

Puerto Pinasco is accessible via unpaved roads from Pozo Colorado (200 km north, 4–5 hr by 4WD) or from Concepción (150 km west, 3–4 hr). Road conditions are very poor; a 4WD is essential.
