Sapucai

Paraguarí, Paraguay

Why visit Sapucai?

Sapucai is a historic town in eastern Paraguarí department, famous as the headquarters of Paraguay's national railway. The town was built around the railway workshops and station, which opened in 1895. The railway is defunct but the workshops and an engine shed remain as a museum, with vintage locomotives and rolling stock on display. The town has a faded industrial charm. The climate is subtropical; best visited May–September.
