Acahay is a small town in southern Paraguarí department, set at the foot of Cerro Acahay, a prominent hill that dominates the surrounding landscape. The hill is a popular hiking destination with panoramic views. The town is a quiet agricultural settlement serving as the base for the climb. The climate is subtropical; the best time to hike is May–September.

Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) is about 85 km northwest.

By Car / Road

Acahay is about 15 km south of Paraguarí (20 min) via Route PY01. Buses from Asunción and Paraguarí pass through.

Walkable. A 4WD or a guide is useful for reaching the trailhead.

  • Cerro Acahay – A 350-metre hill with a hiking trail to the summit (1–2 hr round trip). Views from the top extend across the Paraguarí range.
