Why visit Ybytymi?

Ybytymí is a district and town in Paraguarí department, about 110 km southeast of Asunción, sited in a small valley at the foot of Cerro Ybytymí with views toward the Paraguarí mountain range. The Guaraní name means roughly "small hill" or "small sand mound" (yby earth, ty heap, mí diminutive). It was founded by Spanish governor Pedro Melo de Portugal on 3 October 1783. The district has around 7,000 residents, and its economy rests on cattle, sheep, and pig ranching, poultry farming, and general agriculture. The climate is subtropical, with an average temperature around 21°C, summer highs that can reach the high 30s°C, and cool winter nights that occasionally approach freezing.

Ybytymí is reached via a branch road off Route PY01, roughly 110 km from Asunción.
