Yaguaron
Paraguarí, Paraguay
Why visit Yaguaron?
Yaguarón is a historic town in western Paraguarí department, one of Paraguay's best-preserved colonial settlements. Founded in 1539, it is famous for the Franciscan Church of San Buenaventura de Yaguarón, a stunning example of Spanish colonial architecture with intricate wood carving and indigenous Guaraní influences. The church, completed in the 18th century, is considered one of the finest surviving colonial churches in South America. The town itself has a relaxed character with cobblestone streets and a traditional plaza. The climate is subtropical; best visited May–September.
