Horqueta
Concepción, Paraguay
Why visit Horqueta?
Horqueta is a small agricultural town in southern Concepción department, roughly 50 km south of the departmental capital. Set in rolling cattle and farming country, it is a quiet market centre serving the surrounding estancias and small farms. The name means "fork" in Spanish, likely referring to a fork in the river or road. The town has a unhurried, rural character with a central plaza, a modest church, and few facilities for travellers beyond the basics. The climate is tropical, with a hot rainy summer (October–March) and a mild dry winter (May–August). Horqueta is not a tourist destination in its own right but can serve as a stopover on the route between Concepción and San Pedro.
