Repatriacion
Caaguazú, Paraguay
Why visit Repatriacion?
Repatriación is a rural municipality in the southern section of the Caaguazú Department in eastern Paraguay. The settlement was established on April 23, 1963, as an agricultural colony created by the national government for Paraguayan families returning from abroad, particularly Argentina and Brazil. Elevated to district status in 1974, the municipality covers 324 square kilometers of agricultural plains bordered to the south by the Arroyo Capi'ibary.
The local economy centers on smallholder agriculture and cattle ranching. Farmers cultivate mandioca (cassava), soybeans, corn, sugarcane, and yerba mate across organized numbered rural tracks known as líneas. For travelers, Repatriación serves as a rural stop focused on freshwater recreation parks, countryside tranquility, and regional community events.
The district has a humid subtropical climate. Summers (December through February) are hot and humid, with daily highs regularly reaching 32°C to 36°C (90°F to 97°F) and occasional heavy afternoon rain. Winters (June through August) are mild and drier, with daytime highs around 22°C (72°F) and evening lows between 10°C and 14°C (50°F to 57°F).
