Al-Jib
Jerusalem, Palestine
Why visit Al-Jib?
Al-Jib is a Palestinian village in the Jerusalem Governorate, located 8 km northwest of Jerusalem's Old City near the Green Line. It is identified with the biblical city of Gibeon, one of the major Canaanite cities mentioned in the Book of Joshua. Al-Jib sits on a low ridge surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, with a view of the Tel Gibeon archaeological site. The village has a population of about 8,000, predominantly Muslim. The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Spring is the best time to visit. The village centre is compact and walkable.
