Why visit Anata?
Anata is a Palestinian village in the Jerusalem Governorate, located 5 km northeast of Jerusalem's Old City. It is identified with the biblical town of Anathoth, the birthplace of the prophet Jeremiah. The village has a population of about 15,000, predominantly Muslim, built on a hillside with views of the Judean Desert to the east. Anata has a historic old quarter with traditional stone houses. The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Spring is the best time to visit.
