About Ar-Ram
Ar-Ram (also spelled Al-Ram) is a Palestinian town in the Jerusalem Governorate, located 5 km north of Jerusalem's Old City on the main Ramallah Road (Route 60). With a population of over 25,000, it is one of the largest Palestinian towns in the Jerusalem area and a major commercial and transport hub. The town has a predominantly Muslim population and sits astride the separation barrier, with parts on the Jerusalem side and parts on the West Bank side. Ar-Ram is also the location of the Qalandia checkpoint, the main crossing point between Jerusalem and Ramallah. The climate is Mediterranean: hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit.
