Why visit Kware?
Kware is a semi-urban town in the extreme northwest of Sokoto State, headquarters of Kware Local Government Area, on the A1 highway near the border with Niger. The LGA covers about 554 km² and had a population of roughly 134,000 at the 2006 census, with surrounding communities including Durbawa, Basansan, Bankanu, and Marabawa. Kware was founded in 1812 by Abd al-Salam, a Hausa scholar and one of the leaders of the Sokoto jihad alongside Usman dan Fodio. The local economy today rests on agriculture, livestock rearing, and small-scale trading.
