Dange
Sokoto, Nigeria
Why visit Dange?
Dange is a town in Sokoto State, headquarters of Dange Shuni Local Government Area, part of the Sokoto South senatorial district. The LGA covers about 1,210 km² and had a population of roughly 194,500 at the 2006 census, with other towns and villages in the area including Shuni, Wababe, Salu, Rudu, and Giere. Like the rest of Sokoto State, the area sits within the historical footprint of the Sokoto Caliphate, founded in the early 19th century by Usman dan Fodio, and today Sokoto State traces its modern administrative boundaries to October 1996, when Zamfara State was carved out of the former larger Sokoto State.
