Isa is a town in eastern Sokoto State, headquarters of Isa Local Government Area, bordering Shinkafi in Zamfara State to the south, Goronyo and Sabon Birni within Sokoto State, and the Republic of Niger to the east. The LGA covers about 2,158 km² and had a population of roughly 146,000 at the 2006 census, comprising the town of Isa alongside communities including Turba, Yanfako, Bargaja, and Tozai. The area was historically part of the Gobir kingdom and is inhabited mainly by Gobirawa and Fulani people.
