About Ogbia

Ogbia is a town in eastern Bayelsa State, the headquarters of Ogbia LGA. It is the birthplace of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan (2010–2015), who remains the most famous son of Bayelsa. The town is an Ijaw settlement in the Niger Delta region, surrounded by creeks and farmlands.

The dry season (November–March) is the best time to visit.

The nearest airport is Port Harcourt International Airport (PHC), about 1.5 hrs by road.

By Train

No passenger rail service.

By Car / Road

Ogbia is on the Yenagoa–Port Harcourt road. Buses run from Yenagoa (30 mins) and Port Harcourt (1.5 hrs).

Motorcycle taxis are available.
