Why visit Kaiama?

Kaiama is a town in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA of Bayelsa State, situated on the Kololue River. It is a traditional Ijaw settlement and a market centre for the surrounding communities. The town is known for the Kaiama Declaration of 1998, a landmark statement by Ijaw youth demanding resource control and self-determination.

The dry season (November–March) is the best time to visit.
