Why visit Damauli?

Damauli is the district headquarters of Tanahun District, located at the confluence of the Seti and Trishuli rivers in Gandaki Province. It is an important transit town on the Prithvi Highway between Kathmandu and Pokhara, with a growing population and a busy market. The town is known for the Damoulinath Temple and the nearby Kichkandi caves.

The climate is subtropical with warm summers, a monsoon (June–September), and mild winters. The best time to visit is October–March.

By Plane

The nearest airport is at Pokhara (PKR), 85 km west. Taxi from Pokhara costs Rs 3000–4000 (2 hours).

By Train

No train service.

By Car / Road

Damauli is on the Prithvi Highway, 115 km west of Kathmandu (3 hours) and 85 km east of Pokhara (2 hours). Buses on the Kathmandu–Pokhara route pass through regularly.
