The climate is hot and dry, with summer temperatures frequently exceeding 40°C. The cool season from November to February is the best time to visit. The town is compact and centred on a market and several pagodas.

By Plane

Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT) is the nearest major airport, approximately 100 km east. A taxi costs around 40,000–60,000 kyat and takes 2 hours.

By Train

Taungdwingyi is connected by rail to Naypyidaw (2–3 hr), Magway (3–4 hr), and Yangon (8–10 hr).

By Car / Road

Taungdwingyi is on the road between Magway (80 km west, 1.5 hr) and Naypyidaw (100 km east, 2 hr). Buses and shared taxis run regularly.

The town is walkable. Motorcycle taxis are available for short trips.
