Taboye

Gao, Mali

Why visit Taboye?

Taboye is a rural commune on the Niger River in the Cercle of Bourem, Gao Region, in northeastern Mali. The commune takes in several villages along the river — including Bia, Dagha, Ha, Moudakane, Ouani and Tondibi — alongside Taboye itself; the 2009 census recorded a combined population of just over 20,000. Like the rest of the Gao Region, life here is oriented around the Niger's floodplain (fishing, flood-recession farming) and the Sahel-Sahara transition climate.
