Why visit?

Selangor is Malaysia's most populous state, located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The state completely encloses the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Its administrative capital is Shah Alam, while Klang serves as the royal capital. Major urban centers include Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Kajang, and Cyberjaya, forming the primary industrial and commercial hub of Malaysia.

Travelers visit Selangor for a wide range of attractions. The state contains key religious landmarks like Batu Caves and the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, nature attractions such as the Kuala Selangor firefly river reserves and Sekinchan rice paddies, and commercial destinations including the Sunway Lagoon theme park and shopping complexes in Petaling Jaya.

Selangor experiences a tropical equatorial climate year-round, characterized by high humidity and daily temperatures ranging from 23°C to 33°C (73°F to 91°F). Rainy conditions occur during the northeast monsoon (October to March) and southwest monsoon (May to September), with brief afternoon thunderstorms occurring frequently.

When is the best time to visit?

The driest period to visit Selangor is from June to August. Daytime temperatures range between 28°C and 33°C (82°F to 91°F) with lower rainfall, making this ideal for visiting Sekinchan's rice fields or taking night firefly tours in Kuala Selangor.

A secondary dry period occurs from February to March, following the end of the main monsoon season. Daily temperatures average 27°C to 34°C (81°F to 93°F). October through December brings heavy monsoon downpours, which can cause localized urban flash flooding and travel delays.
