Jeti-Oguz

Ysyk-Köl, Kyrgyzstan

Why visit Jeti-Oguz?

Jeti-Oguz (Kyrgyz: Жети-Өгүз, meaning "Seven Bulls") is a village and rock formation in Issyk-Kul Region, about 35 km west of Karakol on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The name comes from the seven red-rock cliffs that resemble a herd of bulls — one of the most iconic landscapes in Kyrgyzstan.

The Jeti-Oguz sanatorium, built in the Soviet era, sits in the valley beneath the red rocks and is known for its mineral springs and therapeutic mud treatments. The area is a popular day-trip destination from Karakol and a base for hiking in the surrounding Terskey Ala-Too mountains.
