About Iyo

Iyo (伊予) is a city in central Ehime Prefecture, located between Matsuyama and Ozu along the coast of the Uwa Sea. It is a small industrial and agricultural city, known for its citrus groves, textile production, and access to the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The area offers a relaxed, non-touristy look at everyday life in rural Ehime. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit.

How to reach

By Plane

Matsuyama Airport (MYJ) is about 40 minutes north by car. Takamatsu Airport (TAK) is about 2 hours east.

By Train

Iyo is on the JR Yosan Line. From Matsuyama, local trains take about 25 minutes; limited express trains stop at Iyo-shi Station.

By Car / Road

Route 56 passes through Iyo. From Matsuyama it's about 25 minutes by car. From Ozu it's about 20 minutes.

A car is the easiest way to explore the area. The central area is walkable. Taxis are available but limited.
