Why visit Bengkulu?

Bengkulu is the capital of Bengkulu province on the west coast of Sumatra. The city is historically significant as the place where British colonist and founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles, served as Lieutenant-Governor from 1818 to 1824. Bengkulu is known for its Fort Marlborough (an 18th-century British fort), beautiful beaches, and as the home of the Rafflesia arnoldii — the world's largest flower.
