Luwuk

Sulawesi, Indonesia

Why visit Luwuk?

Luwuk is the capital of Banggai Regency in Central Sulawesi, located on the eastern coast of the island along the Gulf of Tomini. With a population of around 160,000, it is the largest city in eastern Central Sulawesi and an important port town. Luwuk serves as the gateway to the Togean Islands and the Banggai Archipelago, and is the home of the Syukuran Aminuddin Amir Airport.

The city has a relaxed coastal atmosphere with a mix of Buginese, Bajo, and local Banggai communities. The surrounding waters are known for their coral reefs, and the city has a growing reputation as a destination for divers and travellers heading to the islands.

The climate is tropical with temperatures of 25–33°C. The dry season June–October offers the best travel conditions.
