Kotu

Western, Gambia

Why visit Kotu?

Kotu is a beach resort area in the Kombo St. Mary district of Western Region, about 17 km from the capital Banjul and a short drive from Serekunda. It has a long, sandy Atlantic beach lined with hotels, guesthouses, and beach bars. Kotu is well known among birdwatchers for Kotu Stream, most easily accessed where it passes beneath Kotu Bridge before emptying into the sea — mangrove-lined mud flats there attract waders, herons, kingfishers, and migratory species, and it is often used as an easy introduction to Gambian birdwatching.
