Why visit Lamin?

Lamin is a fishing village in Western Region, located inland from the coast between Banjul and Brikama. It is best known for Lamin Lodge, a wooden restaurant and bar built on stilts over the mangrove swamps on the outskirts of the village, reachable only by boat or footbridge and overlooking the tidal creeks of the Gambia River estuary. The lodge is a popular base for birdwatching and mangrove boat trips, with green velvet monkeys and a wide range of bird species visible from the deck.
