Coutances is accessible by train from Paris (Gare Saint-Lazare) via Caen, with a journey time of roughly 3 hours. The N174 road connects to the A84 motorway. Regional buses serve nearby towns.
The historic center around the cathedral is compact and walkable. Parking is available at the base of the hill near the Jardins du Prieuré. Taxis are limited.
