Shewula
Lubombo, Eswatini
Why visit Shewula?
Shewula is a rural community in the Lubombo region of north-eastern Eswatini, situated on the Lubombo plateau near the border with Mozambique. It is known as the site of the Shewula Mountain Camp, a community-run eco-tourism project offering overnight accommodation and cultural experiences. The area is one of the most traditionally Swazi parts of the country, with strong community governance and a focus on small-scale agriculture.
The Lubombo plateau at this elevation is noticeably cooler than the lowveld below, with pleasant temperatures year-round. The summer rainy season (November to March) brings frequent thunderstorms. The Lubombo mountains provide a scenic backdrop, with views extending into Mozambique.
