Mpaka

Lubombo, Eswatini

Why visit Mpaka?

Mpaka is a small town in the Lubombo region of eastern Eswatini, situated at a junction on the MR3 highway approximately 15 km west of Siteki. It serves primarily as a transport and trading node for the surrounding rural communities. The name Mpaka means "boundary" in siSwati, reflecting its location near the edge of the Lubombo plateau. The economy is based on small-scale agriculture, livestock, and the retail trade serving travellers on the main east–west route.

The climate is subtropical lowveld, with hot summers (October to March) and mild winters. The summer rainy season (November to March) brings most of the annual precipitation. The best time to visit is during the dry winter months from May to August.
