Gebel Elba National Park

Al Baḩr al Aḩmar, Egypt

Why visit Gebel Elba National Park?

Gebel Elba National Park protects the far southeastern corner of Egypt, along the Red Sea coast and the disputed Halaib Triangle border with Sudan (currently under Egyptian administration). Its centerpiece, Mount Elba (1,435 m), catches orographic fog that sustains a lush pocket ecosystem sharply out of place in the surrounding hyper-arid desert, making the park a recognized biodiversity hotspot — home to Nubian ibex, Barbary sheep, Dorcas gazelle, African wildcat, striped hyena, and dozens of recorded bird and reptile species.
