Jobabo

Las Tunas, Cuba

Why visit Jobabo?

Jobabo is a small inland town in southern Las Tunas Province, located about 60 km south of the provincial capital. With a population of around 10,000, it is an agricultural community surrounded by sugar cane fields and cattle ranches. The town has a quiet, unhurried character and is virtually unknown to international visitors.

Jobabo's history is tied to the sugar industry that has dominated this part of Cuba since the colonial era. The town grew around the local sugar mill and associated agricultural activities. The climate is tropical, with hot summers (30–33°C) and a rainy season from May to October. The best time to visit is from November to April.

The layout follows the standard Cuban provincial pattern: a central park, a church, municipal buildings, and modest residential streets. The surrounding terrain is flat and heavily cultivated.
