Cueto

Holguín, Cuba

About Cueto

Cueto is a small town in northeastern Holguín Province, located in the foothills between the provincial capital and the coast. The town has a population of approximately 6,000 and serves as a municipal seat for an agricultural area producing sugarcane, tobacco, and citrus fruits. Cueto has historical connections to the Cuban Revolution — guerrilla columns passed through the area during the 1950s.

The town has a relaxed, rural character with a modest central square, a handful of colonial-era buildings, and surrounding farmland. The landscape transitions from flat sugarcane plains near town to increasingly hilly terrain toward the Sierra Cristal to the south.

Tropical climate with dry season November–April and rainy season May–October. The best months to visit are December through March.
